Frequently Asked Questions

What is a server chassis?
×
In the world of computing, a server is a computer designed to process requests and deliver data to another computer over the internet or a local network. A server chassis is a metal structure that is used to house servers in various different form factors, making it possible to put multiple servers and other storage and peripheral equipment in a single physical body.
What does a server chassis do?
×
A server chassis is primarily designed to reduce the amount of physical space consumed by a standard server. Generally, a server chassis is used in environments where multiple parallel servers are needed to work on a core application.
What is a rack server chassis?
×
A rackmount server is essentially a server that is designed to fit into a space on a vertical rack, rather than in an upright tower server system. This form factor makes it possible to install more than one server within a single rackmount server chassis, giving users’ the ability to house multiple servers alongside other important server equipment, such as storage arrays and network switches.
Are there any other benefits of rackmount servers?
×
In addition to saving space, rackmount servers are designed to ensure that there is better airflow, and often come with their own cooling systems. Their cables also tend to be simpler to manage, as some racks (like ours) have solutions to help make cable management easier. Finally, our rackmount server chassis are flexible and can be designed to suit any specifications you need in terms of processing power, memory, or storage space.
How large are your rackmount servers?
×
Our rackmount servers are made to fit into the industry-standard 19 inch wide racks. However, while the width of our servers is standardized, the height of the racks is uniformly measured in Units (U) – each unit being 1.75 inches. We offer both 1U and 2U server chassis as well as custom built to print chassis in the units of your choosing.
What are rugged rack mount servers?
×
Rugged rackmount servers are rackmount server chassis that have been ruggedized to support military and/or industrial applications. Often certified by industry standards like MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-461, CE, FCC or DO-160, these servers are stress-tested to ensure they can withstand harsh environmental conditions, such as vibration during transport, extremely high or low temperatures, or high humidity.

Our rugged rack mount servers come in sturdy MIL-STD-810-certified rack server cases and come with the latest 2nd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors.
